Most of our Papillons are adopted as close as possible to their foster homes. Each foster parent gives their heart and love to the butterflies in their care and it is hard to part with them. If you are interested in a Papillon that is not in your home state, you may still send an application, however, every effort is first made to place the dogs within a reasonable distance. We request that the applicant is willing to come to the home to meet the dog and to be sure the match is a good one.

While not all homes are suitable for the physically and emotionally fragile dogs that come into our rescue, we tend to have more people willing to rescue our Papillons than we have dogs available. We are grateful for the kindness of so many people. There may be a delay in finding the right dog for you, and each application is carefully scrutinized. It may take 2 weeks or more before you hear from someone in our  volunteer organization.

Our adoption guidelines are stated preceeding the application page. Please read them carefully.  Any transportation expenses are the full responsibility of the adopter. Suggested adoption donation:
For healthy dogs up to two years of age: $350-$450
For healthy dogs between the ages of two and six:$ 250-$350
For healthy dogs between the ages of six and nine: $150-$250
Geriatric or "special needs" dogs: donation is set on a case-by-case basis

Not all our Papillons are listed on the webpage.

Description:
This little guy is so full of joy and energy, you can only be happy around him.  He runs around tossing toys in the air, rolling on his back juggling his bear, tossing a ball for you to throw him, curling up for a little nap - then starts over!  He is truly entertaining!

Toki is perfectly housetrained and comes when called.  He does not dash out when the door is opened.  However, he is excitable and VERY vocal.  We work on this a lot.  At "No bark!", he often puts Mr. Soccerhead (his favorite toy) in his mouth (though he still barks a bit around it).  We're not there yet, but he's trying.  His bark is high pitched, but he does not bark continuously, more that he has a hard time stopping once started.

The vet (from observing his spinal plates) guesses his birth around 2/08, and maturity will probably help a lot.  So far, Toki has loved every person, especially children, and every dog he has met, though not the few cats he has encountered.

If Toki sounds like the great little companion you've been searching for, you'll want to Google ACH.   Toki has American Canine Hepatazoonosis. It's pretty scary sounding stuff, so bear in mind they are describing untreated animals.  Through good luck and a great vet (most vets have never seen a case of ACH), his illness was diagnosed and treated early with three weeks of antibiotics, and now maintenance of daily doses of decoquinate sprinkled on his food.  An inexpensive supplement powder, it will need to be continued for at least another 18 months.  It has been 7 months since his treatment, and his health and energy appear to be exuberantly vigorous.  He has grown from <6# to 7.9#. None of us gets a health guarantee;  Toki is so worth taking a chance on.  He'll pay you back with lots and lots of unconditional love!

You can read more about Toki and the broken back that saved his life on our website. See Toki's Story.

Give yourself a treat! Come and meet Toki. See if you agree - Toki is just about as perfect as you can get! .
