Foster this dog on Facebook! Most of our Papillons are adopted as close as possible to their foster homes. Each foster parent gives their heart and love to the butterflies in their care and it is hard to part with them. If you are interested in a Papillon that is not in your home state, you may still send an application, however, every effort is first made to place the dogs within a reasonable distance. We request that the applicant is willing to come to the home to meet the dog and to be sure the match is a good one. While not all homes are suitable for the physically and emotionally fragile dogs that come into our rescue, we tend to have more people willing to rescue our Papillons than we have dogs available. We are grateful for the kindness of so many people. There may be a delay in finding the right dog for you, and each application is carefully scrutinized. It may take 2 weeks or more before you hear from someone in our volunteer organization. Our adoption guidelines are stated preceeding the application page. Please read them carefully. Any transportation expenses are the full responsibility of the adopter. Suggested adoption donation: For healthy dogs up to two years of age: $350-$450 For healthy dogs between the ages of two and six:$ 250-$350 For healthy dogs between the ages of six and nine: $150-$250 Geriatric or "special needs" dogs: donation is set on a case-by-case basis Not all our Papillons are listed on the webpage. Description:
Doxie came into rescue on 2/28/09 from a mill release. Doxie is between 4-5 years old with a beautiful sable and white coat. Doxie stole our hearts the minute we saw her, she will steal yours also. She isn't a little barker, she barks when she wants out of bed in the morning, she needs to do her thing you know. The only other time she barks is when she is running and playing with her step brothers, who are much bigger than she is. Doxie doesn't do anything slow! When she is on her way in or out of the house, she always runs. Otherwise she is prancing around the house like the little princess she is. Doxie has come out of her shell more each day. Prances at your feet welcomeing you home when you leave. She even does that after you have been outside for a little while. Almost as if she's asking where you go without me, I'm so happy your back. Doxie loves people, although she seems to shy away from smaller kids. She seems to take quicker to men, but has no problem cuddling up with anyone; she has a very cute personality. Doxie will lay for hours if you scratch behind her ears. Right now she loves sleeping in her own bed, but if you invite her to sleep with you, she won't make a fuss. Doxie is now sleeping with us just like the boys. Doxie loves her walks and is not bothered in the least if other dogs tag along. Doxie had the misfortune of losing a few teeth, because her mill owner didn't take care of her, so she loves the softer treats, but will not refuse the small bones. Her name fits her well. When she was in the puppy mill, she lost her precious long tail. Now she has a small, short stub but that little tail will sure move fast to let you know she is happy. She a must see little girl that would make anyone HAPPY.
