Foster this dog on Facebook! Most of our Papillons are adopted as close as possible to their foster homes. Each foster parent gives their heart and love to the butterflies in their care and it is hard to part with them. If you are interested in a Papillon that is not in your home state, you may still send an application, however, every effort is first made to place the dogs within a reasonable distance. We request that the applicant is willing to come to the home to meet the dog and to be sure the match is a good one. While not all homes are suitable for the physically and emotionally fragile dogs that come into our rescue, we tend to have more people willing to rescue our Papillons than we have dogs available. We are grateful for the kindness of so many people. There may be a delay in finding the right dog for you, and each application is carefully scrutinized. It may take 2 weeks or more before you hear from someone in our volunteer organization. Our adoption guidelines are stated preceeding the application page. Please read them carefully. Any transportation expenses are the full responsibility of the adopter. Suggested adoption donation: For healthy dogs up to two years of age: $350-$450 For healthy dogs between the ages of two and six:$ 250-$350 For healthy dogs between the ages of six and nine: $150-$250 Geriatric or "special needs" dogs: donation is set on a case-by-case basis Not all our Papillons are listed on the webpage. Description:
Hello Everyone. My name is Nova which means "chasing butterflies" in American Indian Hopi language. I have been waiting for my forever home for just over a year. I love it here but I sure would love a home to call my own. I have learned to be social with all the dogs and people here and now know that no one will hurt me ever again. I'm a phalene Papillion which means my ears are down and I must say they sure are cute little ears. My foster Mom has taken to calling me "Nova Normal", I guess because I run and play and potty outside like a normal dog. She says she is so proud of me since I had to work hard to overcome my fears. People at the puppymill were very unkind. Now I know most people are good but I am still shy at first. I want to be sure you are one of the good guys. But once I know it, you're in! The first time I went to the dog park I ran and hid but now I really hang out and enjoy meeting all the other dogs. I let Foster mom know if anyone is coming and move out front to make sure they know I'm on the job protecting my territory. After that we all sniff each other and get down to fun. I finally figured out what those squeeky balls are for but then the puppies always snatch it out of my mouth. I love them though and play with them all the time. I had a great time at the Pap Playdate at this very cool house with great snacks and Paps running everywhere. I also know how to come when called and walk on or off a leash, but only in a safe fenced area of course. I know basic commands like sit and down too. I love to be scratched and loved on and my tongue goes in and out when my ears are rubbed. Mom thinks it's too cute so I do it more and guess what?? More rubs for me! I'm such a smarty pants. :) I am still scared of loud noises like thunder and get a bit jumpy but I calm down quickly when Foster Mom tells me it's ok. Her voice is really soothing. If you have room in your heart and home for an adult girl with great manners to go for walks and chase squirrels (I'm really fast and I love to run) then I would love to be your dog. I also love to nap and cuddle in Mom's lap. I will do that with you too if you give me a chance. Mom says she wants the best for me and a forever home with a tender patient touch would be just the ticket. Gotta run now. Hope to meet you soon. Love, Nova ![]() Other Pictures of Nova (GA) (click to see larger version):
