Foster this dog on Facebook! Most of our Papillons are adopted as close as possible to their foster homes. Each foster parent gives their heart and love to the butterflies in their care and it is hard to part with them. If you are interested in a Papillon that is not in your home state, you may still send an application, however, every effort is first made to place the dogs within a reasonable distance. We request that the applicant is willing to come to the home to meet the dog and to be sure the match is a good one. While not all homes are suitable for the physically and emotionally fragile dogs that come into our rescue, we tend to have more people willing to rescue our Papillons than we have dogs available. We are grateful for the kindness of so many people. There may be a delay in finding the right dog for you, and each application is carefully scrutinized. It may take 2 weeks or more before you hear from someone in our volunteer organization. Our adoption guidelines are stated preceeding the application page. Please read them carefully. Any transportation expenses are the full responsibility of the adopter. Suggested adoption donation: For healthy dogs up to two years of age: $350-$450 For healthy dogs between the ages of two and six:$ 250-$350 For healthy dogs between the ages of six and nine: $150-$250 Geriatric or "special needs" dogs: donation is set on a case-by-case basis Not all our Papillons are listed on the webpage. Description:
Hi, my name is Phe Phe. I’ve been at my new foster home for a little over a month now and I’m having the time of my life. There are 3 things I love to do the most. Run as fast as I can that sometimes it feels like I’m flying, play and play and play with my foster brothers and most of all I love to be around people I’m comfortable with. You see my life didn’t start out so good. I was kept in a cage inside at a puppy mill for most of my life. The people there weren’t very nice to me; in fact they never even petted me. I never got to feel the sunlight on my fur, smell the fresh air or trust humans. But that all changed the day I was rescued. I was set free of that terrible place last year and put into a home with humans, where it was warm and for the first time in my life I felt secure. I came to live with my new foster mommy and daddy, my foster brother Stanley, a small Papillion and 3 cats. It was a little strange at first with all the new smells and surroundings but I quickly bonded with my foster mommy. She is so nice to me. It took me a little while to get comfortable with my foster daddy because of the terrible treatment I got from men at the puppy mill. I love my foster daddy now. He is so much fun. He chases me around the house and plays hide and go seek with me. Just a few weeks ago my foster mommy told me that I had the courage to go without my doggie diapers. I thought she was just pulling my leg. But she trusted me enough to try it and I’ve only had a few accidents. But I am learning quickly that going potty outside is the right thing to do and I even get treats for it. A few weeks ago my foster mommy started teaching me some cool tricks. I know how to “high five” and “shake”. My foster mommy gets so excited when I do these tricks. My foster mommy and daddy keep telling me “good girl” and “Phe Phe is so smart.” I’ve never had compliments like this before and I love it when they say it to me. Just this week I’ve found my voice. I barked for the first time and Stanley (my foster brother) got blamed for it. My foster parents quickly caught on that it was me that was barking. They were so surprised because I’ve been a quiet and shy girl. Well I still am but this barking thing is cool. I get to bark when the door bell rings and go to the top of the stairs to see who it is. I feel like such a good guard dog. I also bark to try and get my foster brother’s to play with me. My foster mommy and daddy are teaching me when it is appropriate to use my voice. I know that this home is not my forever home but it’s sure nice for now. I’m looking forward to the day I get to “go home.” Please come and visit me and meet my foster family. Butterfly kisses! Phe Phe Phe Phe is such a pleasure to be around. She is always in a playful mood. Everyday she surprises us with a little more of her wonderful personality. She is a very good dog and very willing to learn new things. It amazes me that she has the personality she has coming from a horrible beginning in life. But that just shows us that if you give a dog a chance to be a dog and love them for it, they will amaze you in so many ways.
