Hi, my name is Barney, and I am one big, cuddly boy! I used to live a hard life in a Missouri puppy mill, and I never had a name before. The people that used to have me threw me away when they thought I wasn't any good anymore, and now I'm trying to find out who I am. Being loved is so new to me. Now that I know what it is like, I really want to find a home where I am loved.

FURBY is great! Thank you for asking! I believe her efforts to be like the other dogs touch the deepest place in my heart. She has to figure everything out -- is it safe? She is standing calmly beside my chair right now. Sometimes she will put her paws up on my knee and asks to be petted. Today we can love on her for a minute or two. But if you feel a trembling low in her chest you want to put her down QUICK!

It took months and months to be able to pick her up. Now we are learning that it is okay to put her down. Treats treats treats! She expects one when she goes to her crate. If she gets frustrated, she "attacks" her toys or her crate pad. Furby even plays now and then with the other dogs and her play bow is being perfected.

Furby is so "high strung" that if another dog gets in her face, she gets upset. But today, it is almost like she has her feelings hurt and doesn't get it.

Having Furby is one of the biggest joys of this whole dog experience. Nope! she will never be Miss Congeniality, but she is far far from the sad girlie she once was. We love Furby very much! Yep! thanks for remembering our very special Furby.

Special Needs: I want to tell you about a very special dog named Promise. The story is not all good -- that is for sure. But if you are thinking about sharing this boy's life, you need to know everything I know. Promise was one step from being put down when Pap 911 Rescue got a call. His owners were overwhelmed by this dog. They owned him since he was 9 weeks old, but they never seemed to be in charge. As he aged and grew, Promise became a terror instead of a joy. He was biting them badly enough to draw blood. Weary with the struggle, the owners gave the dog to Rescue.

Now, I wish the story turned into a happy ending right there, but it does not. During his first few months in my home as a foster, Promise would fly into a uncontrolled rage at no warning. Following testing for every possible problem, two diagnoses were given as possibilities. One shows that Promise is slightly hypothyroid. Another interesting opinion shows a possibility of a seizure syndrome called "spaniel rage." Little is known right now about this type of seizure, but studies are ongoing. Since starting on a small dose of thyroid medication, Promise's rages have significantly lessened. The behavior that he once got away with is now changing and he is listening and learning quickly.

Why in the world would you be interested in this dog? Because he is the most brilliant dog I have every known. Promise can learn anything -- even Search and Rescue!! Really!! He understands everything I say to him and he has an amazing knack for finding animals. Promise loves to play fetch, tug, go for long walks, and ride in the car. He is beautifully leash trained and housebroken. He is very athletic and has lots of energy. He has a playful, loving side, but is very cautious who he shows it to. Promise is moving to a new foster home where we will get special training to complete his rehab.

Soon he will be ready for a Forever Home with a very special dog savvy person who will understand his resource guarding, and let him be an only child and the center of attention. His adopters must reinforce the training methods used to rehabilitate him. He needs a job where he is using his brain and his energy to good effect. Promise must never be allowed around small children. Only seriously experienced people will be considered for this beautiful brilliant boy. This pet is up-to-date with routine shots, already house trained, and altered
. Promise is attending a T-Touch training camp and updates will be forthcoming as he progresses.
